LEGO Star WarsLEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out next month in Europe and North America, and will feature some new canon content, as well as new gameplay mechanics. Yesterday, IGN uploaded an 8-minute video for the game, with gameplay footage showcasing some of those new gameplay mechanics.

We get to see the cover-based shooting, but also the player switching between melee and ranged attacks on the fly. At one point, an enemy is seen building a weapon with LEGO bricks: it’s not just the player who can do so anymore. And the best thing is, enemies can also build other things, such as cover for their allies. In the video, we also get to see the usual character abilities, including one that can scan gunships to find their weak points.

Finally, the last part of the video shows a flying section, which isn’t all about shooting stuff. You can also explore the insides of the ship, which is pretty good news for players who want a bit of variety and/or like finding various secret things inside levels.

Here’s the gameplay footage for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens:

Finally, head after the break for a new trailer!
