Yesterday, the official Twitter account for the Kirby 25th Anniversary teased a “broadcast” for today, and it turns out it was indeed an imaginary broadcast on Channel PPP. Several announcements were made, starting with the opening of the official website: click here to check it out!

This website is available only in Japan, and features the following:

  • details on the main characters
  • the latest Kirby 25th Anniversary news
  • a selection of goodies/merchandise
  • a retrospective of the various games in the series

Kirby 25th Anniversary – Orchestral concerts

For the 30th Anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. series, last year, Nintendo held a special concert in Japan. This year, for the 30th Anniversary of the Legend of Zelda series, Nintendo held a series of orchestral concerts in Japan. And for the 25th Anniversary of the Kirby series, what is Nintendo going to do? Yup, you got it right: they’re going to held some orchestral concerts in Japan!

There will be three concerts, to be held in collaboration with Hull Research Institute Co., Ltd (Organisation, Planning) and Harmonics International / Promax (Production):

April 16th: Tokyo (Bunkamura Orchard Hall)

Conductor: Taizo Takemoto
Orchestra: Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra

  • Noon concert: 1.30PM (doors open at 12.45PM)
  • Evening concert: 6PM (doors open at 5.15PM)

June 18th: Osaka (Orix Theatre)

Conductor: Taizo Takemoto
Orchestra: Osaka Symphonic Orchestra

  • Concert: 5PM (doors open at 4PM)

There will be three kinds of tickets:

  • Dream seat: 12 000 Yen (special ticket, memorabilia)
  • S seat: 8 500 Yen
  • A seat: 7 500 Yen

Fans who purchase the Kirby: Planet Robobot soundtrack (releasing today in Japan) will find a ticket with a serial code inside (only in first-print copies). That code can be used to get early access to tickets for the concert. The code can be redeemed until January 9th, and the results of the lottery will be revealed from January 13th (to January 17th).

Kirby 25th Anniversary

What would be an anniversary without the usual goodies and merchandise? For the Kirby 25th Anniversary, Runa has released a special watch (sold 27 000 Yen / 220€ / $234 / £185). Here’s some pictures:

The watch is currently sold out, but a second batch of pre-orders will go live tomorrow.
