Investor meeting: Nintendo talks about digital sales

During the usual meeting with investors, which always follows the presentation of the latest financial results, Nintendo talked about its digital sales. A graph was shown, with the download sales from the past few Fiscal Years. We get to see that while they were not as good in Q2 as in Q1, Q1+2 already totals 21 billion Yen, which is twice as much as Q1+2 in 2014-15! It’s also an all-time high for digital sales during the first half.

According to Nintendo, this increase is mainly due to the sale of DLC, and the chart below proves it. It shows the best download sales (excluding the digital version of retail games), and the first three spots are taken by DLC for Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U / Nintendo 3DS.

Finally, the last graph shows the ratio of digital sales, with over 50% just for the Americas. The ratio for that region increased, leaving less than 50% for Japan, Europe, and Other regions (which are slightly down this Fiscal Year).
