Hyrule Warriors Legends: some details about the demo version

Update

The demo is now available in Europe! It should be available in North America within the next couple of days!

***Hyrule Warriors LegendsAs revealed yesterday, a demo version for Hyrule Warriors Legends is coming soon to Japan. Readers of CoroCoro magazine can already download it from the Nintendo eShop, using a QR code. If you have a Japanese Nintendo 3DS, you can also use that very QR code to download the trial version right now:

You will need at least 1 006 blocks / 125MB of free space in order to download this demo. As mentioned yesterday, it only lets you play the very first battle, on Hyrule Field. Unfortunately, it cuts right before the battle with King Dodongo. It’s certainly a strange way to end the demo, as the playable demo for Hyrule Warriors at E3 2014 let you beat King Dodongo.

The first time you launch the game, you are asked whether you want to activate Easy Mode (with enemies dying faster), and if you prefer Dynasty Warriors or Zelda-style controls. After that, you get to the main menu, which has the following options:

  • Legend Mode (the story mode)
  • Free Mode
  • Adventure Mode
  • My Fairy
  • Gallery (there is 180 Skulltulas in the game)
  • Settings
  • DLC (right now, we don’t know what kind of DLC the game will get. We do know that Famitsu will have some bonus content for readers in the next issue, and that the New Nintendo 3DS XL – Hyrule Edition will have a download code for the Classic Link costume for Link and your fairy. Its not clear whether the game will have extensive DLC, like the original on Wii U, which was announced several weeks after release).

Some other details about the demo: cutscenes are not rendered in 3D, which is probably also the case in the full version. Unsurprisingly, you can use the C-Stick to control the camera, on a New Nintendo 3DS. On the touchscreen, you can find all your items: we can assume it’s possible to switch at any time by simply touching them.

It’s not confirmed right now, but it’s quite likely Europe and North America will get the demo sometime in March (close to launch).

Hyrule Warriors Legends (3DS) comes out on January 21st in Japan, and March 25th in Europe and North America.

Thanks @PushDustin for the demo details, and JapaneseNintendo for the filesize.
