Hammerwatch II hacks and slashes its way to Nintendo Switch this Summer

Hammerwatch is a highly-acclaimed hack ‘n slash developed by Crackshell, and released on Nintendo Switch during its launch year (on December 14th 2017, to be precise). And over 5 years later, its sequel, logically called Hammerwatch II, is headed to Nintendo’s console (courtesy of Modus Games this time)!

Hammerwatch II will be available in two editions:

  • Regular (digital-only)
  • Chronicles Edition (retail and digital): $39.99
    • Hammerwatch II
    • original remastered Hammerwatch
    • additional character color palettes
    • additional facial items
    • character voice pack

To celebrate the announcement, Modus Games shared a brand new trailer for the game:

Blight the Horrible and his dragon army have succeeded in the sinister plot to overthrow King Roland and bring destruction across the Kingdom of Herian, but hope hides deep within the sewer system, where the King’s resistance movement holds strong. On the King’s order, a select few of mighty and skilled heroes have been entrusted with defeating Blight’s dragons and restoring the Kingdom.

Adventure alone or gather a party to aid King Roland’s resistance in online four-player co-op, tackling the diverse and epic quests in Hammerwatch II’s vast, dynamic world. Journey through Hammer Island, the Fallowfields, and the dark mountainous regions of Blackbarrow all created in the signature Hammerwatch pixelated art style. Build a custom Herian Hero and choose between five distinct character classes: Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Wizard and Warlock before customizing a hero’s appearance and leveling up to unlock powerful new abilities and skills.

For this second Hammerwatch game, the developers are offering an improved and richer gameplay experience, complete with all-new environments to explore. There’s quests to complete, new enemies to fight, challenging bosses to defeat, and more. The game will also be playable with up to 4 players in co-op, and will include a map editor.

Here’s some more details and some screenshots:
