Fire Emblem Fates: New 3DS XL in North America, details about the DLC

Fire Emblem FatesYesterday, Nintendo of America held a press event dedicated to the various RPG coming this year to the Nintendo 3DS. Obviously, Fire Emblem Fates was showcased there, and there were several announcements for it. The first one is the launch of an exclusive New Nintendo 3DS XL model on February 19th: it will cost $199 (just like a regular New Nintendo 3DS XL), and does not include the game or its DLC.

Nintendo also confirmed that both versions would cost $39.99 in North America, with the second version (as long as the other one) being available as DLC for $19.99. The third path, called Revelation, will be released on March 10th in North America, and will also cost $19.99.

In other words, for about $80, you will get as much content as three games… not too shabby! And if you managed to secure the Limited Edition, you also get an artbook and a pouch for the same price (with the two versions on the same cartridge).

And starting on February 19th, Nintendo will release additional maps for the game. They will be available separately, or as part of a pack (which will cost $17.99). Obviously, you will have to wait for the maps to be released separately even if you purchase the pack (which is basically a Season Pass).

Map Pack 1 features 11 maps and additional content. These maps shine new light on the cast of characters from Fire Emblem Fates, as well as old favorites from the Fire Emblem Awakening game. Discover new background stories about these beloved warriors, while earning more experience points and exclusive weaponry. Every map offers specific challenges and unique rewards.

The first pack includes all the maps from the first and second waves of DLC, released last year in Japan. Since it’s the first one, it implies more packs will be released in the future, with brand new maps not yet available in Japan.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have any details regarding the European release.

Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright / Conquest (3DS) comes out on February 19th in North America, and later this year in Europe.
