Etrian Odyssey V: trailer for the Fencer class

Etrian Odyssey VToday, Atlus once again updated the official website for Etrian Odyssey V: The End of the Long Myth (Sekaiju no Meikyuu V: Nagaki Shinwa no Hate in Japanese). This time around, the update focuses on the Fencer class (from the Earthrun race), which is one of the 10 classes you can chose for your characters in the game.

The page for the Fencer class was updated, and artworks for the other types of character models added (you will find them below!). Unfortunately, it looks like only the “main” model gets artworks for the colour variants… But more importantly, Atlus uploaded a trailer for that class, showcasing the customisation options (appearance, voices), but also a couple of skills:

  • Vision Thrust: makes enemies blind, which lowers their accuracy;
  • Chain Fire: allows you to throw several consecutive attacks, and hit enemies several times.

Atlus also updated the System page with details about various game systems in Dungeons. Unfortunately, there’s nothing really new in there, so here’s what we wrote about it in a previous post:

  • Mapping: just like in previous entries, you will be able to create your own maps of the areas you explore. Etrian Odyssey V will even let you customise the palette of icons you can use to draw the maps, so that you can have a quick access to the icons you use the most. Of course, there will be an option to auto-fill the map for players who don’t feel confident enough to draw their own maps.
  • Fishing spots: in Etrian Odyssey V, you will be able to fish at specific spots within the labyrinth;
  • Adventure Episode: special events that occur when exploring the labyrinth, similar to those the Dungeon Master gives to players during a tabletop RPG session. When one is triggered, you can see its title and a description of the events, giving you a real sense of adventure.

Here’s screencaps from the official website:

Etrian Odyssey V (3DS) comes out on August 4th in Japan.
