Dragon Quest VIII: new screenshots showcase the story and some dungeons

Today, Square-Enix revealed a new batch of screenshots for the Nintendo 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (which comes out on August 27th in Japan). They showcase a bit of the story, which centers around Dhoulmagus, who uses an evil scepter to cast a curse on Trodain castle. To lift it, the protagonist (a guard, who was the only one to escape unscathed) goes on a journey in order to save the kingdom.

The screenshots below also show one of the dungeons. At first glance, it does look like a dead-end, but there’s actually a secret passage hidden behind a rotating wall. Most of the dungeons in the game are filled with similar tricks and traps that will need to be solved/overcome in order to progress through them.
