Dragon Quest VIII: latest batch of screenshots show Jahagaros and the new dungeon

Dragon Quest VIII

Earlier this month, we learned from Jump magazine that Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King on Nintendo 3DS would feature a brand new dungeon and boss (called Jahagaros, a giant four-legged demon with red tattoos all over its body). Today, Square-Enix revealed some brand new screenshots for the game, which showcase that very dungeon and boss.

The screenshots below show a rather dark and dangereous dungeon, where quite a lot of demons are living. Its entrance suddenly appears one day, in one region of the game, and of course, the party is there to witness it happen (which is why the heroes decided to go inside in the first place).

If you progress far enough inside, you will end up at a really poisonous-looking swamp, with some strange red liquid. Needless to say, walking in it is definitely not recommended… all the corpses are a clear sign of that!

As for Jahagaros, it’s completely surrounded in mystery: no one knows its origins. It was sealed by someone, but Square-Enix doesn’t tell us who, and for what reasons. Apparently, it’s been waiting for courageous heroes to progress far enough in the dungeon, in order to reach it. As you can imagine, this new boss is quite powerful!

Here’s the latest batch of screenshots for Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King on Nintendo 3DS:
