Fly Together!

Northplay have announced their latest game for the Nintendo Switch: Fly Together!, an air traffic controller game releasing on April 29th worldwide.

Here’s a trailer, tons of details, the list of key features, and some screenshots for the game:

Fly TOGETHER! takes players to the skies in a race against time to bring passengers safely to their destination by drawing flight paths and avoiding collisions in increasingly challenging action-puzzles.

Fly Solo or hand a Joy-Con to your friends and co-pilot through an expansive campaign. Complete contracts, upgrade your airport and collect a growing fleet of airplanes.

Fly against your friends in hectic up-to-8-player battles: throw meteors, invoke tornadoes or drop a giant cake on your opponents. The pilot who gets the most passengers safely to their destination wins.

We started working on Fly TOGETHER! almost 3 years ago, so to say that we’ve been looking forward to sharing this with you is an understatement. When we made Conduct TOGETHER! from the same ingredients as Conduct THIS! we saw how good it was to reimagine a game for a new platform. We took great effort in developing it from a classic mobile game into a co-op console experience and everyone who played both, know that it turned into so much more than a port.

Fueled by the response to Conduct TOGETHER! we set out to do the same thing with another one of our popular games: Fly THIS! However, it quickly became clear that turning the core gameplay of Fly THIS! into a console experience would require us to develop a completely new way of controlling the game. Fly THIS! is a game of creative planning and drawing flight paths and so to bring it to the big screen we’d have to make the Nintendo Switch do something it wasn’t designed for.

It took us the better part of a year to develop and refine the tech to support Wii-style motion control and make it work as seamless as humanly possible on a console that doesn’t natively support it. The game supports both stick & touch controls, but we’re particularly proud of how fun it is to play with motion (once you get the hang of it).

Like with Conduct TOGETHER! we wanted Fly TOGETHER! to seamlessly transition from a singleplayer to a multiplayer experience. This is a lot harder than it sounds, as you need to think about balancing in the 100 levels or so in the game— scaling things from a solo pilot to a fleet of airplanes.

If that wasn’t enough, we also wanted to add another dimension to this game. Co-Op is fun, but for it to truly be a great party game we added Battle mode; a completely new way of playing the game where you fly against your friends in hectic up-to-8-player battles.

This game is packed full of content, an 80-level campaign, 16 unique battle levels, 40 unlockable airplanes. We think you’re going to love it— It’s our most ambitious game yet,

  • Pilot planes in a beautiful 3D world with handheld, stick and motion controls.
  • Simple and intuitive gameplay for everyone
  • Seamlessly shift between single and multiplayer. Play as the solo pilot or pass Joy-Cons to friends for up to 8 players
  • Transport passengers, earn coins and unlock new airplanes
  • Progress through exotic islands with unique themes
  • Fantastic soundtrack by composer Mikkel Gemzøe

Miitopia (Switch) comes out on May 21st worldwide.

GHOSTS

Visible Games have announced a game for the Nintendo Switch: GHOSTS, a real-time full motion horror game written and directed by Jed Shepherd. The Kickstarter campaign is now live, with $226 979 as the base goal (as of writing, $52 080 have been pledged). You can find a trailer for it on the Kickstarter page!

Here’s some details:

GHOSTS is a real-time live action game which means that it has to be played at 10pm in your local time zone. Written and Directed by Jed Shepherd (writer and exec producer of HOST – “The Scariest Movie of the last Decade” – Dread Central & “The Genre Phenomenon of 2020” – Forbes) in partnership with Visible Games & Limited Run Games. The game takes inspiration from the works of Manx screenwriter Nigel Kneale and the blurring of fact and fiction from the found footage movies of the last 25 years. However, unlike previous games in this oft-forgotten genre we’re creating a horror experience that aims to truly chill your blood and send full motion video games screaming into the modern day.

Starring the fantastic cast of HOST – Haley Bishop, Radina Drandova, Jemma Moore, Caroline Ward and Emma Louise Webb, GHOSTS features terrifying creature design by Trevor Henderson (SirenHead) and fabricated by the incredible Jim Henson’s Creature Shop (Labyrinth / The Dark Crystal).

Playing the Game: You play a TV producer, operating the outside broadcast van for a failing cable channel called FrighTV. Their flagship show is GHOSTS. It’s the only thing people want to watch on the channel anymore. A show that in its heyday captured millions of viewers on a major channel. Viewers were glued to their screens as the presenter with a team of eager ghost hunters explored haunted locations around the country.

Over the years, GHOSTS ratings began to drop which ultimately resulted in the show being dropped by the network and languishing on various freeview channels until it was purchased by FrighTV and re-branded for re-launch in 2022. The channel is littered with terrible adverts and trailers for movies you’ve never heard of and never want to watch.

As the cast explore the location, you not only need to worry about their safety, the noises you hear around the van and the strange neighbours, but there’s also the urban legend of The Long Lady. Sightings of The Long Lady on this very street have chilled the bones of residents for decades. She appears in times of tragedy, looking through the windows of houses on the street. It’s said that if you look directly at her face, you die. Curtain salesmen do gangbusters here.

The full terrifying real-time version of the game is only playable at 10pm in your local time zone. If you load up the game before 10pm you’ll be met with a classic test card. If you can crack the ‘test’ you will have access to an unlockable pre-watershed version where you can breathe and save your progress, but once you hit 10pm all bets are off! There are consequences for all of your choices though. Playing it safe is not always the best option!

GHOSTS (Switch – eShop) does not have a release date yet, but is slated for an Early 2022 release.
