Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon – Over 100 000 units sold worldwide

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is a retro spin-off for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, developed by Inti Creates. It was created as part of the Kickstarter campaign for that game, and was released on May 24th worldwide (except on Nintendo 3DS in Europe, where players had to wait until May 31st).

Good news for Inti Creates: it looks like it’s off to great start. If you’ve checked the various Nintendo eShop sales chart (like the Top 20 for Japan), you already know the game has been topping sales chart in several countries. Yesterday, Inti Creates confirmed that the game was selling pretty well: over 100 000 units since launch!

Even better, the company shared some additional sales data, revealing that over 50% of those sales (56% to be precise) come from the Nintendo Switch. It looks like many a Nintendo Switch owner is craving for some good ol’ retro Castlevania action!

Another stat that shows the completed transition from the Nintendo 3DS to the Nintendo Switch: the Nintendo 3DS only account for 4% of sales, which clearly shows the active userbase on Nintendo platforms is no longer on the dual-screen handheld.

Also, Inti Creates reveals that the vast majority of players who bought Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon were from North America: 64% of them, to be precise. Japan is far behind, with “only” 23%, but that’s still more than Europe and its 13%.

Here’s an illustration Inti Creates shared to celebrate the game selling over 100 000 units worldwide (along with two graphs the stats mentioned above are from):
