Arc System Works announces Jake Hunter: Ghost of the Dusk for the 3DS

Today, Arc System Works sent a press release to announce they acquired the rights to several licences by WorkJam, including the popular Jake Hunter / Tantei Jinguuji Saburou. It looks like the deal was finalised on December 20th, but it’s only today that Arc System Works made the announcement.

Here’s the various WorkJam series rights Arc System Works acquired:

  • Jake Hunter / Tantei Jinguuji Saburou
  • Theresia
  • Nazo no Jikenbo
  • Koneko no Ie

Regarding the Jake Hunter / Tantei Jinguuji Saburou series, it’s celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year (the first entry was released back in 1987, on the Famicom Disk System). And to celebrate that anniversary, Arc System Works is going to release the first Jake Hunter game in 5 years (the last one was Jake Hunter: Fukushuu no Rinne / Rondo of Revenge, back in 2012).

Called Jake Hunter: Ghost of the Dusk, it will be released on the Nintendo 3DS. Unfortunately, that’s pretty much all we know about the game so far, but no doubt we’ll be hearing more about this game soon (in Famitsu magazine, for example).

Jake Hunter: Ghost of the Dusk (3DS) does not have a release date yet, but it has been added to the Upcoming Releases page. Unfortunately, a western release is extremely unlikely, as only one Jake Hunter game was ever released outside Japan (Jake Hunter Detective Story: Memories of the Past, on Nintendo DS).
