Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp live wallpaper and pre-release footage

A couple of weeks ago, Nintendo revealed Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, their latest game for smart devices following Miitomo, Super Mario Run, and Fire Emblem Heroes. It’s already available in Australia (where it was soft-launched, a common practice for mobile games though it’s the first time Nintendo is resorting to it), but it will only be launched at the end of the month worldwide.

In order to promote the game in Japan, Nintendo has once again partnered with Google (something they previously did for Fire Emblem Heroes, which is why Android users were able to get a 4 * Female Corrin for free, a few months ago). (Almost) Every day until launch, players will be able to download exclusive Live Wallpapers, but also check out pre-release footage from famous Japanese YouTubers.

NB: the Live Wallpapers are only for devices running Android 4.2 or more recent, and may not be compatible with all devices running that OS. And yes, that means no Live Wallpapers for users running iOS, or any other mobile OS.

Here’s a commercial for the promotional campaign:

And here’s the full planning:

  • November 9th: Live Wallpaper (click here to download it)
  • November 11th: pre-release footage

  • November 12th: Live Wallpaper update #1
  • November 13th: pre-release footage

  • November 15th: Live Wallpaper update #2
  • November 17th: pre-release footage

  • November 18th: Live Wallpaper update #3
  • November 19th: pre-release footage

  • November 20th: pre-release footage

Now, you’re probably wondering what those “updates” are… it’s pretty simple: as we get closer to launch, the Live wallpaper will be updated, with new elements added each time. You can get a preview of those updates in the following gallery:

NB: the last “event’ for this promotional campaign is on November 20th, implying the game itself will not be released before then… which makes sense, as it’s officially slated for a late November release. However, there’s no guarantee it will be released either on November 20th or 21st, and the official release date will be announced in due time.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp (Android, iOS) comes out in late November, worldwide. It’s already available in Australia.
