Nintendo: Satoru Iwata explains why he won’t attend E3 this year, new Mii distributed

A few weeks ago, we learned that Satoru Iwata won’t attend E3 for the second year in a row, though this time around, it’s for a less serious reason. Earlier today, the President and CEO of Nintendo posted a few messages on Twitter, in order to explain why he wouldn’t be in Los Angeles next week, for E3 2015, but also to make some minor announcements.

First he starts by reminding us that E3, which takes places every year in Los Angeles, is by far the biggest for the video game industry. And during the event, he’s actually going to tweet on the official Nintendo account(s?) on Twitter, using the following hashtag: #Iwatter.

By the way, a new Mii of Satoru Iwata is being distributed right now via SpotPass, and it’s noticeably slimer than the previous one. This is to reflect his weight loss following last year’s operation, but since he didn’t lose all that much weight in the end, his new Mii doesn’t look radically different in the end.

Next, he talked about E3 proper. He explained that he had always attended E3 in the past, up until last year. This year, the reason he chose not to attend was because:

– Nintendo will not announce any new console this year
– the General Meeting of Shareholders will take place the follwing week (on June 26th).

This year, his job will be to tell people in Japan about E3… from Japan!

But Shigeru Miyamoto will attend E3 this year… in fact, he’s already arrived in Los Angeles! When you see the E3 logo, you know it’s finally about to start!

E3 2015 will take place on June 16-18th in Los Angeles.
