Xenoblade Chronicles 2 now available for pre-purchase, character trailer, Breath of the Wild quest, more

Today, Nintendo streamed a brand new Nintendo Direct presentation, which was entirely dedicated to the upcoming JRPG from Monolith Soft. Xenoblade Chronicles. If you missed the presentation, there’s nothing to worry about: you will find the full recording in this post, as well as the major announcements!

Let’s start with the recording of the Nintendo Direct, which was significantly longer in Japan:

The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Direct began with a trailer introducing the major characters of the game. It was uploaded separately on YouTube, so if you don’t have time to watch the full presentation now, you can just check out this trailer if you want!

Good news for players who want to play with Japanese voices without having to play through the entire game in Japanese: a Japanese voice over pack will be available at launch… for free. Just like the one for Fire Emblem Warriors, it will allow you to enjoy the Japanese voices with subtitles, and has to be downloaded separately.

By the way, if you really can’t wait for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and want to be able to play as soon as possible, you can already pre-order it from the Nintendo eShop or Nintendo’s website. There’s actually two versions available:

  • stand-alone
  • game + Expansion Pass (just a bundle, no special discount available)

Here’s when the game will unlock:

  • Japan: 10PM JST on November 30th
  • Europe: 12AM on December 1st
  • North America: 9PM PT on November 30th / 12AM ET on December 1st

It was also announced that the game would get some DLC, available exclusively via an Expansion Pass. You can find more details about that on this page!

Finally, it was announced that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would get a special quest on November 9th. Clearing it will allow you to get a special outfit, based on Rex’s in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Here’s what it looks like:

Finally, here’s artworks and screenshots for the game:
