Known issues

If you’ve turned off the auto-rotate screen feature via your device’s settings menu, the screen’s orientation will not change during races even if you’ve selected Portrait / Landscape via the Race Screen header in the game’s settings menu.

Workaround: please turn on your device’s auto-rotate screen feature.

There may be times when the score you receive after a race is over is not higher than your Lifetime Best, but the New Record message is still displayed.

In Battles, there are circumstances in which you may float higher than expected when using the bubble and the Super Leaf special skills.

The meter at the top of the cup selection screen that indicates the rate of team token acquisition does not change during team rallies.

Starting with the Battle Tour, there may be times when it takes a while to advance to the next screen on the course selection and driver selection screens before starting a race.

The “You’ve completed Premium Challenges!” text bubble at the bottom of the cup selection screen will not disappear even after moving to the Challenges screen.

OUCH! is not displayed in battles when you take damage from Mushrooms, Dash Rings, Triple Mushrooms, or Feathers by getting rammed. Also, the Heart and Heart+ items cannot prevent ramming damage from the above items in battles.

Addressed issues

It is possible to obtain team tokens that should be unobtainable when racing on a course for which a Tokens Aplenty event is active during a Team Rally using auto-mode. Also, the number of team tokens collected is not displayed on the screen after the race ends.

When a point-boost ticket is used, the animation showing the point limit being reached may not occur.

Battles are coming to single player and multiplayer. In these battles, each player has balloons attached to their kart. Your goal is to pop your opponents’ balloons!

The modes Standard Race and Gold Race will be combined, and Gold Race, available only to subscribers of the Mario Kart Tour Gold Pass, will be removed.

Note: Gold Pass subscribers will still be able to increase their grade to S and higher.

Shop Renovations

Restarting the app after exchanging for an item in the Token Shop may cause an unexpected error that prevents the app from starting.

On the Manage Mii Characters screen, if you tap Add a Mii, then tap Via Nintendo Account, and then return to the app while the Nintendo Account web page is still loading, tapping Add a Mii again may not let you add Mii characters. After encountering this issue, you may also experience the following:

When playing in a race, the race may begin without any opponents or you may be matched with the same opponents as the previous race.

The score is not reflected after a race.

The increased base points of drivers, karts, and gliders are not reflected.

You cannot purchase rubies or other in-game items.

Note: the button to return to the app on the corresponding screen has been removed in order to address this issue.

When using the Heart special skill, it takes longer for the skill to be used after tapping the screen compared to before Ver. 2.12.0.

After getting a frenzy with the Giant Banana+ special skill, if you get another Giant Banana+, it may disappear from your item slots.

On Yoshi Valley, when the big egg is fired into the air, if you hit an item as it lands, the big egg doesn’t launch into the air again.

When opposing team drivers are in higher positions than your team and one of them uses a Spiny Shell, the Spiny Shell does a lap around the course and targets the leading driver on your team.

A bug affected the amount of speed boost received from driving into an opponent’s Mushrooms or Triple Mushrooms while the opponent has a Frenzy.

Note: A Speed boost will occur when a driver gets close to another drive that has a Frenzy with Mushrooms or Triple Mushrooms.

There was a bug in which drivers could get speed boosts from driving into Mega Mushrooms from an opponent’s Frenzy. This should not occur.

A bug affected Shy Guy (Ninja)’s animation, in which when the character turned into a scrool, the bamboo leaves around the scroll were not displayed.

When tapping the screen after a race to skip to the results screen, the collection of Grand Stars or the “New Record” text sometimes does not display correctly.

The game screen can freeze if the date in Mario Kart Tour changes while Frequently Asked Questions, Tips & Tricks, or News is displayed.

After the suspension period for a Gold Pass subscription ends on an Android device, you may be unable to resucribed.

An issue may occur that causes the base points of drivers, karts, and gliders that had reached the maximum value before Ver. 2.0.1 was released to appear to exceed the maximum value after updating to Ver. 2.1.0. This issue also makes it possible to use point-boost tickets on the affected drivers, karts, and gliders despite the base points being at maximum.

The Pipe Frame kart may appear in place of Level-Boost Tickets in the Daily Selects section of the Shop.

Sometimes the player level decreases by one if players return to the tour screen after advancing to the next player level.

New features have been added to multiplayer

The Team Game rule has been added to multiplayer. When playing with this rule, players will be split into two to four teams. Upon finishing the race, the team with the highest combined placement will be the winner.

The Team Game rule will routinely appear in the Standard Race rule rotation.

The Room Code feature has been added to multiplayer. Room Codes can be shared on social media to allow players to easily meet up and play together.

Players can now automatically earn up to 100 coins a day as they wait for a multiplayer match to be found.

Players can now move the camera around before the race begins.

New features have been added to tours

Support for Expert Challenges has been added. These challenges will become available in future tours. These challenges are more difficult to complete than existing challenges.

Support for the Coins Aplenty event has been added. This event will become available in future tours. This event will allow you to obtain a large amount of coins and will become available in future tours.

High scores earned by friends in a particular cup can now be seen for every cup, not just the ranked cup. Scores shown are those recorded after updating to Ver. 2.1.0.

Some other changes have been made too

A new type of ticket, the points-cap ticket, has been added. This ticket allows you to raise the base-points cap of a driver, kart, or glider. Players will be able to obtain points-cap tickets in future tours.

With the addition of the points-cap ticket, drivers, karts, and gliders that have reached their base-points cap will be indicated by the word LOCKED for easy identification.

Support has been added for players level 100 and beyond. Players will be able to increase their player level past 99 at the start of a future tour.

When a driver, kart, or glider that you own appears in Daily Selects, the number of duplicates needed to level them up will now be displayed.

Known issues have been addressed.

The issue preventing players from receiving a level-up reward when they advance to the next player level has been addressed.

After a race, the player-level gauge may decrease before increasing.

When racing a course that has reached its point limit (and therefore no longer contributes points toward your player-level gauge), your player-level gauge may decrease even if you come in 1st place.

When playing a multiplayer race in which you are the only human player, an error may occur after the race begins and your grade gauge may decrease.

The pre- and post-race screens have been adjusted

Base points and level information for each driver, kart, and glider is now displayed on the “Ready to Race!” screen. When playing single player, you can tap on the base points or level to use boost tickets. This feature cannot be used in multiplayer or bonus challenges.

The bonus-points boost is now displayed on the race-results screen. When a bonus-points boost is applied to a driver, kart, or glider, their level will light up.

“NONSTOP COMBO!” is now displayed on the race-result screen if a player maintains an unbroken combo between the Rocket Start and the end of the race.
