Monster Strike: latest details, characters and screenshots; TV Commercial

Monster Strike 3DSA few weeks ago, mixi promised new details about Monster Strike 3DS on a weekly basis. The company picked up Monday for those weekly updates, which mean it’s already time for the latest update! This time, we get some more details about the game (including the Strike Cards), a brand new character, and more.

Let’s start with Bianga, which is another monster of the “transcendence” class (just like Kagutsuchi and Olive). He was designed to look like a wild boar. As for the new character, he’s called Takii Sanjou: another one of Homura Ren’s classmates. He’s said to have a rather… intense personality, and a very childish behaviour.

Another known character is introduced: Wakaba Minami (seen in the main artwork above). She seems to be a rather normal junior highschool girl, but from time to time, she will say and do rather strange things without warning.

Next: co-op play. As mentioned previously, Monster Strike on Nintendo 3DS can be played with up to 4 players in local co-op (unlocked after completing the 5th chapter in the main story). If you play with friends using this mode, you’re more likely to get nice rewards. In this mode, you can use a very useful item called Strike Cards, that you get by StreetPassing other players.

You can get up to 25 Strike Cards during a StreetPass session, and you cannot hold more than 100 cards at a time. Strike Cards can only be used once, so you really need to think carefully about when to use one… After all, it might very well decided the outcome of a battle.

Unsurprisingly, it has a Christmas theme: mixi is certainly expecting parents to pick up the game for their kids at Christmas. This “strategy” certainly worked well for Puzzle & Dragons Z, back in 2013, so it’s not surprising mixi would try it for Monster Strike.

Monster Strike (3DS) comes out on December 17th in Japan.
