Japan – Media Create sales for Week 12, 2015 (March 16 – 22) [Top 50]

Last week in Japan, only two games came out on Nintendo consoles: PriPara & Pretty Rhythm: PriPara Detsuka Eruoshare Item 1450! and Mario Vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars. The first one had a decent opening, with over 21 000 units sold (roughly 50% of all units shipped to retailers).

As for Mario Vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, it had a pretty weak opening with only 6 900 units sold for the 3DS version, and barely 3 000 units for the Wii U version (which didn’t even chart in Media Create’s Top 20). Nintendo was obviously expecting better, as the sellthrough for both versions is around 0-20%… that’s a lot of units still sitting on retailers’ shelves!

Hardware-wise, the Nintendo 3DS wasn’t really at its best last week, with sales down compared to Week 11 this year and Week 12 in 2014. As for the Wii U, its sales are slightly on the rise, but it won’t last very long…
