Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 Professional announced, out in February in Japan

Back in March, Square-Enix released the latest entry in the Dragon Quest Monsters series in Japan, called Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3. Unfortunately, it received a rather lukewarm reception, and it clearly showed in sales: it sold over 630 000 units LTD (according to Famitsu), while previous entries (except remakes) made it to over 1 million units each.

And today, on the fourth and last day of the Tokyo Game Show 2016, Square-Enix announced that Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 Professional would be released on February 9th in Japan. Will it fare better than the vanilla version? We will see in a couple of months!

So, what does this “Professional” version of Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 add, exactly? Well, pretty much the same things as previous entries: new story scenario(s), original monster(s), but also plenty of other popular monsters that didn’t make it in the original version of the game.

For players who already own Dragon Quest Monsters Jokers 3, there’s a save data transfer feature. By transferring their save data to Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 Professional, they will be able to keep all the monsters they caught in the original version of the game.

Here’s the “Image Trailer” for Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 Professional:

Finally, some extra details about the game, including a pretty familiar staff member list:

  • General Director: Yuji Horii
  • Monster Design: Akira Toriyama
  • Music: Sugiyama Koichi
  • Players: 1 to 8
  • Multiplayer: Local, Internet, StreetPass
  • Price: 5 250 Yen + taxes
