Monster Hunter Stories: demo releasing next week (+pre-loading)

Announced back in April 2015, Monster Hunter Stories is a bit different from other mainline Monster Hunter games. It’s a full-fledged RPG, with a turn-based battle system. It’s radically different from what fans of the series are used to, especially since Capcom is clearly targetting kids (primarily) with this game.

In order to allow fans to see for themselves what Monster Hunter Stories has to offer, Capcom has brought the game to several real-life events (such as the Monster Hunter Festa, or the Tokyo Game Show 2016). For those who couldn’t make it to any of these events, a demo will be released via the Nintendo eShop next week, on September 20th.

Players will be able to try out the following:

  • Quest Mode, where they will be able to check out a little bit of the story
  • Tournament Mode, where they will be able to try out the Challenge Cup

What’s more, players with save data from the Monster Hunter Stories demo will be able to unlock a special costume for Nabiru in the full version of the game (see the pic below).

Players who are convinced by the demo, and don’t really care about the physical version, will be able to pre-purchase and pre-load Monster Hunter Stories from the Nintendo eShop from September 20th. That way, they will be able to start playing on October 8th at 12AM JST!

Here’s some pictures for the demo:
