Yo-kai Watch 2: overview trailer

Last week, Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits / Fleshy Souls was released in North America. And yet, it’s only on Tuesday that Nintendo of America uploaded the usual overview trailer. It introduces the main elements and features of the game, starting with the very Yo-kai themselves.

Yo-kai are mysterious creatures hiding everywhere, causing mischief in our daily lives. You can use the Yo-kai lense to find and battle them. If you manage to win, you can even befriend them, so that they battle by your side. During battles, you use the touchscreen to switch between Yo-kai on the front row, revive those that fainted, and launch special moves called Soultimate moves.

There’s various ways to get new Yo-kai, including fusion (which only works with specific Yo-kai). Naturally, the most common and easy way to find new ones is simply to explore every nook and cranny of the world. Besides Springsale, there’s also a town in the countryside and San Fantastico to explore, with over 100 new Yo-kai to find.

In this sequel, you can battle and befriend former bosses, famous Yo-kai, and even Yo-kai from many years ago. Talking of the past, you can travel to Old Springdale, where you will meet Nate’s very own grandpa (and creator of the Yo-kai Watch), Hovernyan, and Meganyan. You will get to take part in an epic war between two factions of Yo-kai, too.

If you want to take a break, Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits / Fleshy Souls also features various activities such as cycling, exercising, and more. There’s also an intriguing box: if you try to see what’s inside, you will be hit by a rather… smelly curse.

The overview trailer also mentions multiplayer (local wireless and online), with:

  • VS mode;
  • Yo-kai Watch Blaster: you team with other Yo-kai in order to go battle other Yo-kai in an action-filled sub-game.

Finally, the trailer details the differences between the two versions: they each feature exclusive quests, items, and Yo-kai. If you buy the game at retail, you can get an exclusive Yo-motion Medal (unlocking a special Soultimate move for Jibanyan). If you buy the game on the Nintendo eShop, you will get either Robonyan F or Sailornyan. Finally, if you have a save data file from the first Yo-kai Watch, you can get three exclusive Yo-kai!

Here’s the overview trailer for Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits / Fleshy Souls on Nintendo 3DS:

Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits / Fleshy Souls (3DS) comes out on October 15th in Australia, and Spring 2017 in Europe.
