Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition – Some more details about the new playable characters and new story content
Following the release of the overview trailer and a sneak peek at the additional story content yesterday, Nintendo shared some more details for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition today. Unsurprisingly, the focus is on two new characters and on the Epilogue.
First up, the new characters:
- Liesel: the test pilot for the new Skell, the Hraesvelg. She works for the Arms Company, and was involved in the development of the new Skell. She’s a former pilot of the German Air Force, and she has full confidence in her abilities as a Skell pilot. Her personality may appear a bit rugged at first, but she also cares deeply about her friends. She sometimes wear a very distinctive mask when piloting a Skell.
- Neilnail: an archeologist studying alien civilizations. She is friendly, scholarly, and curious. She has a strong interest in the culture and customs of the people of Earth. In one of the screenshots below, we can see her together with Celica (a fellow Qlurian), making a request to the player. Also, she recognises the two Skells that suddenly appear before the party in another screenshot.
And in case you’re wondering: yes, both Liesel and Neilnail are playable characters that can be added to your party. However, you will have to clear their respective Affinity Quests first!
Next up, some details about the new story content, and more precisely the Epilogue (which takes place after Chapter 12).
Shortly after the conclusion of the final battle in the Lifehold Core, a mysterious phenomenon starts occuring all over Planet Mira, causing people to disappear. It soon begins to spread, swallowing everything in its path, leaving nothing but sheer emptiness, void of any light, in its wake. Anything swallowed by one of those giant balls of darkness disappears without a trace.
And to make things worse, a new enemy force known as the Ghost suddenly appears alongside that mysterious phenomenon: the Ghost. They’re another alien faction, who triggered the battle between the Ganglion and Earth. And so humankind is once again made to face the very foes that caused the destruction of Earth.
Just as Elma and her team are about to be wiped out, a mysterious Skell swoops down from the skies to save the day. That Skell, an Ares model, is none other than the very Skell that defeated the incoming enemy and protected the White Whale just before it crashed on Planet Mira. Both Skell and pilot went missing after the battle, but they suddenly reappear just in the nick of time to face the new threat.
The Epilogue takes place in a brand new region: a floating continent that suddenly appears high up in the skies.
With people disappearing left and right, the remnants of Ghost launching an attack on humankind, Blade is once again tasked with a critical mission: protect the remnants of humankind at all costs. To do so, they head towards this mysterious content.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition (Switch) comes out on March 20th worldwide.
