Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider – 8 minutes of gameplay

Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider is the latest game from JoyMasher (the developers of Blazing Chrome, Odallus, Oniken, and more), and it’s releasing this week worldwide (on January 12th to be precise, with Europe, North America, and Japan all getting it on the same day).

Ahead of that release, The Arcade Crew (publisher) shared a gameplay video for the game. This 8 minute-long preview focuses on the Fallen City, and gives us a good look at the intense gameplay, and the slick pixel art and animations. Does Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider truly channel the spirit of the 16-bit action games? Watch the video so you can find out for yourself!

Here’s the video:

Check out 8 minutes of gameplay from Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider, the action platformer that channels the spirit of golden age 16-bit action games. Watch how the cyborg known as Moonrider searches through the outskirts of the Fallen City to locate Flamestalker among the rubble.

Before the battle, the player can gear up and equip Moonrider with one or two powerful chips. Once on the field, the level starts with a chase sequence in the woods with a giant killing robot shooting at Moonrider from the background. After defeating the second phase and the mid-boss, Moonrider faces a vertical platform section while flames are chasing him. The walkthrough concludes with an epic confrontation with Flamestalker.

Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider (Switch – eShop) comes out on January 12th worldwide.
