Vblank Entertainment: Retro City Rampage DX / Shakedown Hawaii
Retro City Rampage DX
Earlier this week, we learned from a listing on the Nintendo eShop that Retro City Rampage DX was coming to the Nintendo Switch… next week! Shortly after, Vblank Entertainment confirmed the news, and shared some more details.
This may be the umpteenth time the game is ported to another platform, but Brian Provinciano (the developer) still wanted this port to be as polished as all the others. It’s for this reason that he went and polished it even further, with the following:
- slightly more stylish score display
- improved enemy stomp and swimming controls
- improved lock-on targeting
- mission difficulty tweaks (he mentions Death Cam VHS specifically).
The Nintendo eShop lists the game for July 27th (next week), but it looks like this date is not set in stone yet. However, if there’s a delay, it shouldn’t be a big one (the game would then come out the next week, hopefully).
Oh, and no need to worry about this surprise port of Retro City Rampage DX delaying Shakedown Hawaii. If anything, it’s going to speed things up a bit, as Vblank Entertainment will already be used to the certification process for the Nintendo Switch!
Finally, here’s a teaser trailer for the game:
Retro City Rampage DX (Switch – eShop) should be released on July 27th in Europe and North America.

Unfortunately, Shakedown Hawaii (Switch, 3DS – eShop) still doesn’t have a release date.
