UK: video games sales for Week 48, 2015 (ending November 28th)
Due to Black Friday, the video game market was up by +60% (units) and +32% (revenue) during Week 48, compared to Week 47. The increase is better than last year’s, but actual sales are lower (-9% and -10% respectively). Sales of consoles are actually up (+8%), but 86% of them were for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One (compared to 75% in 2014).
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Nintendo platforms really benefited from Black Friday, as the only two titles left in the Top 40 are actually down this week. Mario Kart 8 is now #24 (it was #20 last week), and remains the best-selling title on Wii U. As for Splatoon, it’s now #25 (it was #23 last week). As for the Nintendo 3DS, the best-selling title is still Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, but it’s not even in the Top 40…
