The Super Mario Bros. Movie now opening on April 5th in the United States (and more than 60 countries)

Good news for those of you who simply can’t wait for the Super Mario Bros. Movie: Universal Pictures have just announced that it will open earlier than previously announced… by two days. Instead of April 7th, the movie will now open on April 5th in the United States and over 60 countries. No change for the Japanese release, which is still set for April 28th.

Speaking of Japan, the second set of pre-order tickets will go on sale on March 10th. Anyone who gets a ticket will also get a set of postcards featuring illustrations from the various posters from the movie!

And ahead of its long-awaited release, the final trailer for the Super Mario Bros. Movie will be revealed during the third (and presumably final) The Super Mario Bros. Movie Direct on March 9th/10th:

Like the previous two presentations, this new The Super Mario Bros. Movie Direct will not feature any game information/announcements.

Here’s when it will take place:

  • Europe: March 9th at 11PM
  • UK: March 9th at 10PM
  • North America (ET): March 9th at 5PM
  • North America (PT): March 9th at 2PM
  • Japan: March 10th at 7AM

Also, during the Super Bowl, Universal Pictures and Illumination aired a fake commercial for Super Mario Bros. Plumbing, Mario and Luigi’s plumbing company. They even went as far as set up a “real” website for the company: click here to check it out!

Here’s the commercial:

And finally, here’s some more posters for the movie:

The Super Mario Bros. Movie opens on April 5th in the United States and +60 countries, and April 28th in Japan.
