- Small UI update for menus and the waypoint selection, since they didn’t work with a controller before.
- Japanese added as a new language. After all, we owe a lot to them.
- 1.5 GB reduction in file size due to better compression. This is also the main reason for the relatively big download size of the update, but it will actually save disk space on your machine.
- Various bug fixes and probably new bugs as well.
- Dreaming doesn’t skip an extra hour any more to prevent lock-ins inside the hidden door.
- Overall better performance.

How to download updates for The Longing on Nintendo Switch?
To download the updates for The Longing, you have three options:
- let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated, and didn’t completely turn it off
If not…
- try to launch the game from the Home Menu while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: simply follow the instructions on screen;
OR
- select the game > press either + or – to go to the Options page > select Software update > select Via the Internet.
To check that you have the latest version installed, simply select the game on the Home Menu, and press – or + to go to the Options: the version number is displayed just below the game title.
