Super Mario Odyssey announced for the Nintendo Switch; trailer, details, and screens

During the Nintendo Switch Presentation, Nintendo revealed Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch. We don’t have that many details about it, other than it will be a sandbox game in the vein of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine (which should definitely please fans who have been craving for such a Mario game).

But what’s really interesting about this new Mario game is that it doesn’t take place in the Mushroom Kingdom. This time, Mario goes on a journey through mysterious places. The trailer below shows a giant city, but also a Mexican-themed town, a forest, and more. It looks like Mario uses a strange house-shape airship.

As far as gameplay goes, the main new feature seems to be Mario’s cap: he can now throw it like a boomerang, and even use it to jump and reach far places. In the trailer below, Mario can also be seen riding a lion-like animal, collect strange purple pieces, and more.
