Spirittea – Ver. ??? (Phantom Friends Update)

  • SPIRIT PETS!
    • You’ll now be able to summon spirits as pets, using pet shrines! Hunt down pet ritual scrolls for help on how to summon them, and you’ll have your own spirit companion that might be a bit less grumpy (sorry Wonyan)
  • NEW SPIRITS & QUESTS!
    • You’ll find some new spirits about town which you’ll need to have your spirit vision ready for… what possibly could they want?
    • One of the new spirits you’ll find is a SPIRIT MERCHANT! You may need their help during one of the quests, or when it’s time to summon a spirit, so make sure your spirituality is high enough…
  • Added Poegs to the game – it’s a spirit pig that can be fed different foods and produces different coloured spirit essences (used in creating pets at pet shrine). Appears in-game if you’ve been in town until at least the 5th of the first year
  • Added Poeg detector to spirit shop inventory. It can show where the Poeg is located on the map screen (a little white pig icon)
  • Added pet shrines to the game, which can be used to summon pets
  • Added pet ritual scrolls to the game (instructions on how to create pets)
  • Added pet shrine to secret shop inventory
  • Added pet shrine to Song’s shop rotation
  • Added pet shrine to secret shrine room
  • Added a NEW spirit merchant. Will only be visible and active as a shop if spirituality is more than or equal to 100
  • Added ability to scrub spirits for spirit materials (using broom)
  • Added new flower shrine quest (started once player unlocks the pond in the bathhouse)
  • Added a flower shrine to outside of the bathhouse area
  • Added spirit flowers types around town
  • Added 10 lion’s mane spirit flowers around town
  • Added water to bathhouse upgradable pond
  • When the bathhouse pond has been upgraded, a watering can is spawned in front of it. The watering can is also added to the recovery shrine at this time. The watering can cannot be sold at the selling shrine
  • Added veggies to Ito’s truck shop. Each day Ito is in town, 2 random veggies that grow in the wild can be sold at his truck shop. The next time Ito is in town, the veggies will be randomly picked again (so it’s possible to see the same veggie again)
  • Added lasagna & the recipe for it
  • Ensured that Song’s shop will be selling the spaghetti recipe, noodles, tomatoes and beef during the stage of the spirit quest where lasagna needs to be fed to the Poeg
  • Added tutorial for ceiling and floor brooms (the floor broom specifically describes how to get spirit materials)
  • Revised the backup achievement code check which triggers when you load your save file. It will check more efficiently if you’ve been in town at least one year and should have the Countryside Experience achievement
  • Fixed a bug where Kurkapi and Ribbard’s songs wouldn’t end when they were done bathing, or the bathhouse was closed
  • Fixed bug where playing the drinking minigame 6 times soft locked the minigame, and didn’t naturally end with dialogue from an NPC
  • Fixed issue with Kim’s quest’s spirit where the spirit’s depth was off when sitting in the tea fields (making it so the player could stand over top of its sprite when the player should be behind it)
  • Fixed Maru and Sora’s positioning on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 8pm (should be by the temple but were teleporting to the school)
  • Fixed “controller is disconnected” message font size for non-English languages
  • Added option to in-game menu to adjust deadzone level of joysticks
  • Added option to in-game menu to have the game auto detect controller inputs for you, or to manually set the controller being used
  • Added Aurum’s background information to his spirit charm (updated when spirit tome is dug up)
  • Fixed Corvink’s bathing type to be “Swimmer” instead of Regular
  • Adjusted spirit material drop rate to 45% chance and decreased required scrub time from 6 seconds to 5.5 seconds
  • Added a Wonyan scrubbing reminder/tutorial that triggers in the center of the main bathhouse room if the Poeg quest is done, and if the tutorial hasn’t been triggered yet

Spirittea – Ver. 1.6.6 (SpecQUACKular Update)

  • DUCKS! You’ll now be able to have cute, algae eating ducks in your bathhouse!
  • You’ll find a brand new shop vendor called Ito who will have a few new things to sell! His truck will pass through town here and there, so be sure to keep an eye out!
  • You’ll notice new seasonal mechanics in the bathhouse! Depending on the season, you’ll find your baths filling up with algae, ice, and even fallen leaves! Keep the baths clean (with the help of the ducks!) to make room for your spirits! Maybe the new bathhouse heaters might help? Perhaps a net might help pick up those pesky leaves outside?
  • We gave Bruce some new animations!
  • We added a reticule to fishing, so now it’s even easier to see where the bobber will land and where exactly you’re fishing!
  • Drinking game changed to sinking cups!
  • Added naked reaction text for Ito
  • Fixed error where items could be lost by placing them on shelves and tables

  • Fixed a bug where Amelia’s and Clarence’s quests were still both triggering on the mountain at the same time
  • Fixed an issue where food couldn’t be given to spirits when attempting to give it from above spirits (aka spirits sitting in the top row of the bath)
  • Wonyan can’t be talked to (or get in your way) when the bathhouse is running (unless the tutorial hasn’t been completed yet)
  • Fixed bug where if recipe from crab (Julian’s quest) spawns in an inaccessible place, re-entering the room will move the recipe to the beach

  • Fish can be offered at the lord spirit offering table, as well as given to spirits while bathing
  • Allowed player to be able to run the bathhouse on the weekend even when Fae has an upgrade scheduled (because she’s technically not working)
  • Modified quest code/save data so that the town board will now consider quests completed without needing to talk to NPCs after you’ve helped out the spirit. The NPCs will still have the post quest dialogue and the notebook won’t be marked as completed until you talk to them, but the town board will take down the notice after you’ve helped the spirit
  • Made it so Yumi’s quest can be triggered if it’s 5 something pm, so long as she’s not still in the school
  • Added backup code that will teleport Yumi to the correct spot at the end of her quest if her pathfinding fails for 3 seconds
  • Fixed the selling shrine displaying a -1 for a price
  • Fixed crash due to bath monkeys not being able to find a spot in the outdoor baths
  • Fixed the resale value of rice to be equal to the sale value (rather than worth more)
  • Changed criteria for the quest done stamp in the notebook (marked completed when expected. No post-quest dialogue needed to mark as complete)
  • Fixed a bug where oil beetle can’t be caught in trap without crash
  • Fixed a bug (again) where NPC hobbies in notebook were being recorded as “1”
  • Fixed bug where the shop called seaweed “seaweed soup”
  • Fixed a bug where getting hit with snowball while biking makes bike disappear
  • Fixed a bug where biking while getting an item resulted in item floating and unable to be picked up

  • Fixed some sloppy coding for Sujin’s quest where the spirit might appear unresponsive

  • Fixed Morinoba’s dialogue when playing on Steam Deck
  • Removed train carriage destroy event and replaced it with clean up event
  • Blocked the boiler saw from being accessible until specific parts of the tutorial
  • Made the bathhouse tutorial entrance invisible blocker persistent during the tutorial so players can’t break the tutorial by accidentally leaving at the wrong time
  • Added an extra line of clarification to the bathhouse upgrades UI (upon paying for an upgrade) indicating the day the upgrade will be finished, and stating that Fae will finish the upgrade at the end of her work day on that day
  • Fixed a bug where lord spirit text when moving between rooms would cause time to freeze
  • Changed some code to help with crashes when entering/exiting the bathhouse
  • Put a check in to destroy the train if it’s somehow around when it’s not 7am or 9pm
  • Fixed an issue where if you saved the game after seeing the bathhouse with Wonyan for the first time (exterior) and exited completely, you will now be able to progress the tutorial in the convenience store as intended
  • Fixed a bug where “blank text” text appears in Yumi’s page of notebook
  • Fixed a bug where there was seemingly another character page in the notebook to the right of Yumi’s page. Also removed the ability to flip past Yumi’s (the last) page
  • Fixed a bug where if you were moving an object in storage or the fridge to a new location, and instead of selecting the new location you chose the initial spot, the item would disappear
  • Jan will now stop 35 pixels from the target NPC when helping the player find everyone, rather than stopping on top of them
  • Added backup to prevent baby boar from hitting player while player is entering a new room

Spirittea – Ver. 1.5.8

  • Inventory stacking!
    • We know you’ve all been waiting for this, and we’re more than happy to deliver! Now, if you have more than one of the same item in your inventory, it’ll stack instead of taking separate inventory slots! It’ll stack in other places with storage too, like the chest in your house, fridges, etc.
  • Fixed issues with Morinoba’s dialogue when playing on Steam Deck
  • Added a sleeping animation for Fae
  • The poobirds now have sound effects!
  • The train carriage destroy event has been replaced with a clean up event
  • The boiler can’t be accessed until specific parts of the tutorial, to avoid unintended behavior
  • The invisible blocker during the bathhouse tutorial is now more prominent, to stop players from breaking the tutorial and accidentally leaving at the wrong time
  • Added more clarification to the bathhouse upgrades UI when you pay for an upgrade. It will now be indicated the day the upgrade will be finished and will inform the player that Fae will finish the upgrade at the end of her work day
  • The player can now run the bathhouse on the weekend, even when Fae has an upgrade scheduled, as she doesn’t work on the weekend
  • Fixed a crash relating to bath monkeys not being able to find a spot in the outdoor baths
  • Fixed a bug where Lord Spirit text would cause time to freeze when moving between rooms
  • Quests on the board and notebook will now complete regardless of whether you’ve spoken to the relevant NPC to tie up the quest
  • Fixed a bug where the selling shrine would display -1 as a price

Spirittea – Ver. 1.5.6

  • Pumpkins will now grow all year round!
  • New UI elements for the Spirits section of the in-game menu

Spirittea – Ver. 1.5.3

  • Fixed a bug where Leigh won’t talk to the player during his quest (when he’s not painting)
  • Fixed a bug where the home cooking UI doesn’t recognise the new doubled storage and fridge sizes
  • Added Juso, Flitt, Lunariss and Avanis as spirits which appear around the town if you’ve completed their quest
  • Fixed a bug where the “Fall is Coming” painting was appearing EVERYWHERE once up on display
  • Levelling up while sweeping the bathhouse won’t cause bugs with the brooms anymore
  • The baby boar doesn’t move during a loading screen or if time is paused
  • Fixed a bug where players couldn’t get into the tunnel by the temple due to an invisible barrier
  • Removed the ability to eat as a tanuki, which was causing a soft lock
  • Fixed a bug where Quill’s sand castle wouldn’t appear
  • Fixed a bug where the pamphlet was showing Jillian & Yari’s friendship as 0 if they were out of town
  • Your bike will now appear outside of your home when you sleep or become exhausted, so it will never get lost

  • Julian’s knife now has a name!
  • Cooking elixirs at home now produces 3 of them instead of 1

Spirittea – Ver. 1.5.2

  • Separated Miko and Amelia more when they’re preparing kimchi in front of the shop in the mornings (this one was especially tough, never get between a lady and her kimchi!!)
  • Removed using joystick as an option for karaoke minigame as inputs were too inaccurate and we were failing you for no reason (sorry!)
  • Removed penalty of losing points if you mistime in the karaoke minigame, making it a lot easier
  • Ensured one-of-a-kind shrine items cannot be sold (making completing the shrines impossible)
  • Fixed Sora’s bug-catching text to use the correct player name
  • Fixed spirit vision teapot blinking and not resetting after sleeping
  • Fixed issue where if you close the bathhouse, NPC helpers with towels in the main room will not spawn their towels unless you go to another room and come back. Now the towels will appear where/when they should
  • Fixed the stinker statue being misnamed sun melon(??)
  • You’re now NOT able to be holding a towel (clean, wet, dirty), open your bag and swap to a different item (resulting in towel ending up in backpack)
  • The game now checks that there are at least 10 towels (the starting number) available to you in the bathhouse somewhere. If you lose any towels in a shift, they should now reappear!
  • Added some code for players who collected the bard and prisoner figurine before the bug where they weren’t counted as collected was fixed. Now you can get the achievement!
  • Fixed a bug where player health was below 0, meaning they couldn’t move

Spirittea – Ver. 1.5.0

  • Patch notes:
  • Karaoke is finally easier!! Basically, we removed a bunch of the center drum prompts, and reduced the number of presses needed on the various directions. It’s still tricky! But maybe doable now?
  • The recipes for Butterfruit Pie and Mixed Veg Pizza can now be found in the shop rotation
  • The demon pepper spawns *way* more now
  • Ling’s skeleton! It turns out it was sometimes parking itself *under* the bridge to the right of town. So it was there, but you umm… couldn’t see it. The skeleton will stop nearby now, rather than under the bridge. If you’re still struggling to find it, maybe try hitting the interact button under the bridge!!
  • Amelia and Clarence’s quests can’t clash anymore
  • Added a TON more localization to the game
  • Insects now make a flutter noise! Lovely
  • Towels won’t get stuck in impossible to reach places anymore. Stupid idiot towels
  • Generally fixed more issues with spirit bathhouse placement
  • The final 2 figurines will be recorded now!
  • Fixed a bunch more various crashes!

Spirittea – Ver. 1.4.9

  • Fixed some open cutscenes weirdness
  • Items given to you via friendship won’t sometimes disappear anymore
  • Fixed a ton of crashes
  • If you’re eating when you hit 0 stamina, it won’t explode anymore
  • If you’re hanging out with an NPC and they have a different activity to do, they’ll keep doing your activity instead
  • You can catch fireflies and cloud cats in your bug trap safely now!
  • Spirits shouldn’t randomly disappear when placing them in the bathhouse now
  • Baby monkeys can’t swim in hard to reach places
  • NPCs working your bathhouse won’t lose towels anymore
  • You can now put wet towels on the wet towel table!
  • You can now put dry towels on the dry towel table!
  • Fixed a bug with spirit vision getting stuck during the weird popup text box quest
  • Song now has art asset changes based on her mood
  • Fixed issue where people were getting a black screen when loading the game (sorry!)
  • Added missing localization for Spanish, Chinese and Japanese (still a few bits to fix up though!)
  • Made fishing easier!
  • Doubled the amount of items you can have in the world at once (for all those extra fish you’re going to be catching!)
  • Tripled the size of your house and fridge storage (for all you hoarders)

Spirittea – Ver. ??? to ???

  • Changes to the villager pathing. Maybe some of them will stop walking in the wrong directions now!
  • Villagers who aren’t meant to be on the map at certain times (eg. Ling, Tifa, Sora) shouldn’t show anymore
  • Sujin’s quest is fixed!
  • It won’t rain as much anymore, thank god!
  • Some of the endless fishing issues should be resolved
  • The cooking minigame should work properly now
  • Fixed some issues with the drinking minigames

  • Fixed the issue where Fae never finishes her bathhouse work! Just jump to the next day and she should FINALLY finish up
  • Fixed the issue where you can sometimes get locked in place while fishing!
  • Fae doesn’t randomly call you Dan anymore! Who the *heck* is Dan anyway?!
  • The book will say your town name now instead of some other place
  • Fae can give you her map properly now!
  • Moby has a soaking animation when he goes in the hotspring now!

How to download updates for Unicorn Overlord for the Nintendo Switch?

To download the updates for Unicorn Overlord, you have three options:

  • let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated, and didn’t completely turn it off

If not…

  • try to launch the game from the Home Menu while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: simply follow the instructions on screen;

OR

  • select the game > press either + or – to go to the Options page > select Software update > select Via the Internet.

To check that you have the latest version installed, simply select the game on the Home Menu, and press – or + to go to the Options: the version number is displayed just below the game title.
