Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin – Ver. 1.0.9

Added Content

  • Implemented a complete overhaul for “Sakuna the Efflorescent”
  • Added new Spirit Boughs as rewards for “Sakuna the Efflorescent”
  • Added dishes that use ingredients that were previously underutilized
  • Added several new icons for dishes

Adjustments

  • Buffs for different weather patterns now take effect everywhere instead of only indoors
  • Full throttle now correctly applies to raiment skills that cause debuffs
  • Full Throttle and Divine Maiden now correctly apply to Toxic Crown
  • Added to the divine raiment tutorial during the opening
  • Minor typo fixes

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where changing equipment during battle on the lowest floor of Amagaeshi Shrine could cause a crash

Added Content

  • Added text support for Chinese (Simplified) and Spanish (Latin America)
  • Dogs will now greet you upon returning to the pass home
  • Dogs and cats can now be carried at the same time
  • Implemented some previously unused voice lines
  • More than one of a food item can now be processed at once
  • Added a UI element that shows when in-game time is paused
  • Made changes to the porch animations in the latter half of the game
  • Added option for monitors not in 16:9 aspect ratio to darken everything outside the game screen when playing in borderless mode

Adjustments and Improvements

  • Adjusted difficulty for bosses in the latter half of the game
  • Fixed an issue where the knockdown effect for moves such as Tidal Wave, Thundering Magnitude, and Rising Carp was too high due to a calculation error
  • Fixed a calculation error that occurred under specific circumstances (such as when Thundering Magnitude reflects an enemy projectile)
  • Damage now caps at 9,999,999
  • Improved effectiveness of using the cow to till soil
  • Soil nutrients now cap at 9,999
  • Reduced the nutrient value for fertilizer with nothing added to it from 10%→5% when the farming difficulty is set to default
  • Made adjustments to the materials and effects of Medicine items
  • Adjusted effects of Alcohol items
  • Improved graphical quality of falling snow
  • Oil droplet no longer moves during event scenes
  • Improved controller detection accuracy
  • Improved fullscreen performance for monitors not in 16:9 aspect ratio

Bug Fixes

  • The expiration date of food used as a component in fertilizer will no longer reset when the fertilizer is disposed of
  • Fixed an issue where time would pass when selecting farm tools for Sorting, Threshing, and Hulling
  • Fixed an issue where time would not pass after Sorting or Hulling were completed during the winter season
  • Fixed an issue where rice disorders had no effect on any stage of the farming process except rice actively growing in the paddy
  • Fixed an issue where the correct reward would not drop during the 4th and 9th waves of “Sakuna the Efflorescent”
  • Added more characters to the cutscene where everyone gathers together when resting on the porch
  • Fixed issue where autosave would create corrupt data under extremely specific circumstances

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that occurred rarely with certain boss fights where the game would proceed even if Sakuna and the boss were defeated at the same time
  • Fixed an issue in Amagaeshi Shrine where there was a possibility of enemies not loading in correctly following certain specific actions
  • Temperature is now a condition for Bakanae disease to develop
  • Salt damage will now be reduced by using flowing water or while the field is being drained
  • The disorder Cloudy Rice will now develop during the ripening stage, not the drying stage
  • Fixed an issue in the second half of the game where conditions for an event occurring in the field can be met using flowing water
  • Fixed it so that playtime is not extended incorrectly when fast-forwarding through cutscenes
  • Other minor bug fixes

Adjustments

  • Added new animations when resting on the porch
  • Improved the way that Tidal Wave interacts with the terrain
  • Improved the accuracy of annual temperature calculation
  • Added Autumnal Hunter’s Garment as a reward for clearing Amagaeshi Shrine Floor 100
  • Maximum in-game years has been expanded from 999 to 9999, and the Cornucopia effect of the Rice Hunter’s Garment will now max out after 1000 harvests

Bug Fixes

  • First-time clear rewards for Sakuna the Efflorescent and Amagaeshi Shrine can now be obtained again if the player does not already have them
  • Fixed an issue with Fierce Furrow where it would occasionally become more difficult for attacks to land
  • Fixed an issue where the cursor would not automatically be positioned over the latest save data when opening the Load screen
  • Fixed an issue where the same menu would carry over to the following day when starting dinner after the date changes at midnight
  • Fixed an issue where status buffs would not be reflected by equipment-specific Enchantments (such as the Gold Iron’s “Tailor Made” ability)
  • Fixed an issue where the next level of Spirit Bough’s power would be released automatically if the conditions were already fulfilled when the previous level was released
  • Fixed an issue where, if players loaded save data at the moment an enemy dropped an item, that item would be acquired in the loaded save file
  • Other minor bug and English text fixes

  • Shortened the recovery period after the raiment is used but does not attach to anything
  • Fixed an issue where “Fierce Furrow” would sometimes miss depending on skill proficiency and framerate
  • Fixed a bug while “Last Stand” is active where using “Milky Way” and “Mirror of Purification” would recover health
  • Made slight adjustments to the camera while in the Mountain Pass
  • Fixed an issue where the Hidden Power release conditions were being randomly updated when adding/taking out items from the Fertilizer.
  • The respective recipes will now automatically disappear from the Change Menu screen when their necessary ingredients are used for Fertilizer.
  • Exploration Objectives will no longer appear during events
  • The event that requires the Soul-Stealing Mask can also be completed with Soul-Stealing Mask+ now

How to download updates for Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin for the Nintendo Switch?

To download the updates for Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, you have three options:

  • let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated, and didn’t completely turn it off

If not…

  • try to launch the game from the Home Menu while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: simply follow the instructions on screen;

OR

  • select the game > press either + or – to go to the Options page > select Software update > select Via the Internet.

To check that you have the latest version installed, simply select the game on the Home Menu, and press – or + to go to the Options: the version number is displayed just below the game title.
