Pokkén Tournament: boxarts, pictures and detail for the special controller
Yesterday, Hori sent a press release to give some additional details about their special controller for Pokkén Tournament. As mentioned before, it’s based on the controller of the arcade cabinet, but it’s actually slightly smaller: its size was reduced so that even children could use it. Also, unlike the arcade version, this controller does not flash or vibrate.
Hori also confirms the controller plug in directly to the Wii U via USB, and not via the special port on the Wii Remote. Pokkén Tournament is the only game compatible with it: you will not be able to use it with any other Wii U (or Wii) game. This should come as no surprise, as it does not have any (clickable) sticks. Finally, when using the controller in local multiplayer, Player 1 will always have to use the Wii U GamePad, which means you cannot use two Pokkén controllers on the same console.
- Size: 152mm x 99mm x 67mm
- Weight: 225g
- Length of USB cable: 3m
Here’s some pictures of the controller itself and its packaging:
Finally, here’s the boxarts for Pokkén Tournament (regular edition and Wii U Premium Pack):
Pokkén Tournament (Wii U) comes out on March 18th in Japan, and in Spring in Europe and North America.
