FAST Racing Neo: Shin’en talks about E3, sales so far, and more
NintendoLife recently got the opportunity to interview Manfred Linzner, in order to talk about FAST Racing Neo (which came out earlier this month in Europe and North America, and this week in Japan). One of the topics tackled is E3: for Shin’en, FAST Racing Neo was the right game at the right time, which is why it was showcased there. It was also of the right quality for Nintendo to pick it up.
Fortunately for them, they already had a pretty stable build before E3. So all they had to do in order to prepare for the event was to spend several weeks polishing the game as much as possible, after Nintendo approached them.
Later in the interview, Manfed Linzner explains that development was a pretty steady experience for them. They didn’t have “crunch time” (working extremely long hours in the last weeks of development, in order to meet deadlines): in fact, they never do at Shin’en. It’s something they chose never to do many years ago.
Finally, Shin’en talks a bit about FAST Racing Neo’s sales so far:
We had a bet running in the company on how many copies would be sold on day one. Martin called the highest number. And he was right. It was almost exactly the number he predicted. We are very pleased with the sales so far, but on the other side our preceding investment was very high as well. Anyway, currently it looks pretty bright for the sales.
