Pokémon World Championships

The Pokémon World Championships takes place next week in San Francisco (from August 19th to Ausut 21st). If you were looking forward to head there yourself, you should know you will not be able to get in if you haven’t been invited. Indeed: The Pokémon Company announced yesterday that “due to limited venue capacity and overwhelming demand, the 2016 Pokémon World Championships will be closed to the general public”.

This decision was made in order to provide “the best possible event experience to our qualified players and their families.” To get in, you will need a badge:

  • if you’re over 18 years old, you will get just one badge (yours)
  • if you’re under 18 years old, you will get two badges (yours, and a Guest Badge for a parent/guardian)

Additional Guest badges will be available, but only on a first-come, first-served basis. Also, it was confirmed that there would be no Pokémon GO event or anything at the venue, which does make sense: security probably wouldn’t be able to deal with the influx of visitors trying to get in, especially since it will be closed to the general public.

Also, details about the livestreams were revealed. First, here’s the hosts for each category:

  • VGC: Ray Rizzo, Duy Ha, Evan Latt, Jay Blake, and Aaron “Cybertron” Zheng
  • TCG: Kyle Sabelhaus, Kyle “Pooka” Sucevich, Kenny Wisdom, Josue Rojano, and Josh “TheJWittz” Wittenkeller
  • Pokkén Tournament by D’ron “D1” Maingrette, Vish “ViciousVish” Kumar, Daniel “DC” Coke

Pokémon Sun and Moon manga

Today, the Pokémon Company shared some preview pages of the Pokémon Sun and Moon manga, which will debut in the next issue of CoroCoro magazine (releasing on September 15th in Japan):

Pokémon Sun and Moon (3DS) comes out on November 18th in Japan and North America, and November 23rd in Europe.

McDonalds

McDonalds signed a partnership for Pokémon GO, and pretty much all its restaurants became either a PokéStop or a Gym. This was done in order to drive foot traffic, and it looks like it’s been pretty effective so far. Sales jumped by 27% in July, thanks to demand for the new Pokémon toys in the Happy Meal sets and Pokémon GO itself.

Pokénchi

Here’s the preview for the next episode of Pokémon no Uchi Atsumaru?!, which will air this Sunday in Japan:
