Pokkén Tournament

Today, Hori announced that a Pikachu variant of the Pokkén Tournament Controller for Wii U would be released in June in Japan, where it will cost 3758 Yen. It doesn’t look like it’s any different from the regular controller (besides the appearance, obviously). Right now, we don’t know if Hori is planning to release it in Europe and/or North America.

Here’s some pictures of the controller and its packaging:

Talking of Pokkén Tournament, The Pokémon Company revealed the rules for the tournament at the UK National Championships (May 14th-15th in Liverpool). On Friday, up to 512 players will be to pre-register, and then, on May 13th, players will be put in pool. Their matches will take place throughout the day, in 4 waves. 64 players will move on to Day 2, and then the finals.

Naturally, all players will have to use the wired Pokkén Tournament controller (they are even advised to bring their own). As for the official rules, they are as follows:

  • LAN Mode
  • Skill: Off
  • Best of 3 Rounds, then Best of 3
  • Stadium Only
  • Loser of last match may change Battle Pokémon
  • Both players may change Support Pokémon and Cheer Skill between matches;
  • Accidentally pausing the game at any time during the match will force you to forfeit the round.
