Pokémon GO news (Sept. 7): Lucky Pokémon / Software update

Today’s Pokémon GO news: changes to Lucky Pokémon, another Software update, and Moltres Day event cancelled in Hokkaido (Japan)!

Pokémon GO – Lucky Pokémon

Earlier this week, some changes impacting Lucky Pokémon went live. Now, if a Pokémon has been in storag since July 2016 to August 2016, it’s now guaranteed to become a Lucky Pokémon when traded (unless you already have received 10 or more Lucky Pokémon already). A nice little “present” for fans who have been playing since the very launch of the game!

Also, Pokémon that become Lucky as a result of a trade will now be more powerful than ever before.

Pokémon GO – Moltres Day (Japan)

Due to the earthquake that hit the Hokkaido region in Japan, earlier this week, the Moltres Day event has been cancelled there (it will take place as scheduled in the rest of the country, and the rest of the world of course). EX Raids taking place on September 10th have also been cancelled.  Unfortunately, Niantic has confirmed that there were no plans to simply hold the events at a later date.
