Nintendo: updated launch schedule (July 2018)

As usual, Nintendo revealed their updated launch schedule for upcoming Switch and 3DS titles today, along with their financial results for Q1 2018-19.

Unfortunately, this is a document for investors, who can check out how many games are coming out for each platform. It’s not a list for consumers or even the press, with exact dates or anything. Therefore, do not expect to find many new release dates in the lists below.

Said lists do not have anything really new first party-wise, but there’s still a rather unexpected surprise: Nintendo have listed Fitness Boxing for this Winter (presumably 2018), as a 3rd-party game published by them. However, it’s not clear what this game is, who is its original publisher, and when it will be officially announced.

The new mainline Pokémon game has also been given a narrower release window: Late 2019 (as opposed to simply “second half of 2019”, as initially announced earlier this year). However, this comes as no surprise as it was highly unlikely to be released before Q4 2018.

There is unfortunately nothing else of note regarding first-party games, and no new third-party game listed on Nintendo Switch.

Quite interestingly, Nintendo do not list third-party games on Nintendo 3DS for Europe and North America anymore. Nothing new regarding 3rd-party games on Nintendo 3DS in Japan, as all 3 games listed had previously been announced. By the way, Sekaiju no MeiQ (temp.) is supposed to be Etrian Odyssey X (out on August 2nd), but it’s not clear why Nintendo never bothered updating that title…

Left column is for 3DS games, right column is for Switch games:

NB: since the planning is for the current Fiscal Year (April 1st to March 31st), it includes already released titles (such as Mario Tennis Aces). And as always, keep in mind those lists are not exhaustive (they’re actually missing quite a few games and/or dates): for the complete list of upcoming games on all platforms, make sure to check out our Upcoming Games page!
