Nintendo Switch sales (Europe)

Nintendo have shared some sales data for the Nintendo Switch in Europe. The company has revealed that its console has now sold over 10 million units in Europe. Across the continent, sales are still on the rise, with almost +30% Year on Year, and over +40% compared to 2017 (after the same amount of weeks in the year).

Since launch, Nintendo-published games have sold over 36 million units combined, and 9 of them have already sold over 1 million units:

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • Splatoon 2
  • Super Mario Party
  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
  • 1-2-Switch

Also, the following third-party games have all sold over 500 000 units:

  • Minecraft
  • Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy
  • Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
  • Stardew Valley

Astral Chain

The latest DevBlog post for Astral Chain is now live. This one is from Shohei Kameoka (environmental artist), who came to talk about something called UV animation. Here’s an excerpt:

One of the most appealing parts of ASTRAL CHAIN is its urban, near-future sci-fi setting. Nothing says “near-future city” like holograms, right? And if you want your holograms to look good, you’ve got to keep them moving! To create those hologram animations, I made heavy use of a technique called “UV Animation.” UV animation is a well-worn technique at this point, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t versatile! In this blog, I’d like to show off a few of its uses in ASTRAL CHAIN.
