Nintendo Live 2025 Tokyo: some more details (tournaments, registrations)

Last month, Nintendo announced that Nintendo Live is coming back to Japan this October. Nintendo Live 2025 Tokyo will take place on October 4th and October 5th at Tokyo Big Sight (Hall 1 and 2).

As previously announced, this event will feature various tournaments (with most open to the general public), demo stations with playable Nintendo Switch 2 games, and more. However, there will be no music performances, and no special merchandise available for purchase. The various tournaments and stage events will be livestreamed, though!

Also, Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Today! app is required to participate in Nintendo Live 2025 Tokyo: pre-registration and admissions are managed directly via the app.

Some further details about the various tournaments were also shared:

Mario Kart World Tokyo Rally (October 4th)

Pre-registrations are now live until August 5th via the Nintendo Today! app. There will be two divisions:

Splatoon 3 Have Fun with the Splatlands Collection at the Sheldon Cup at Nintendo Live 2025 (October 4th)

Pre-registrations are now live until August 5th via the Nintendo Today! app. More details (in Japanese) on this page!

Splatoon 3 Salmon Run Part-Time Job Team Contest (October 5th)

Mario Kart World Invitation 2025 (October 5th)

Players invites from all around the world will compete. For Japan specifically, the participants will be selected among the best players from Day 1 of the Mario Kart World Tokyo Rally 2025.

Nintendo Switch Demos (October 4th and October 5th)

Visitors will be able to try out a selection of Nintendo Switch 2 games (exact list TBA). Nintendo specifies that no new games will be revealed during the event.

Also, Nintendo reiterates that only those who pre-register and are selected via random lottery will be able to attend the event. There are two types of pre-registrations, and you need to be selected for both if you want to experience everything Nintendo Live 2025 Tokyo has to offer.

  • Tournaments registration: allows you to attend tournaments as both participant and spectator. Pre-registrations are now live until August 5th at 3PM JST.
  • General admission: allows you to attend tournaments but only as a spectator, and to try out the Nintendo Switch 2 demos. Pre-registrations will open in August.
