Nintendo Financial Results – Outlook for Fiscal Year 2015-16

For the Fiscal Year 2015-16 (which started on April 1st), Nintendo plans to maintain the performance of already released titles on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS (which have strong sales potential), but also to release new titles to expand the userbase. The company mentions DLC for Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario Bros. for Wii U / Nintendo 3DS, with which Nintendo aims to keep these titles played.

Since the second DLC pack for Mario Kart 8 came out after the beginning of the new Fiscal Year, we’re not quite sure if this means new DLC is planned for the game or not.

On Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo will release several key titles, such as Rhythm Tengoku (Rhythm Heaven, not confirmed for Western release jsut yet)” and the new Fire Emblem game (coming in 2016 in Europe / North America), along with various third-party titles. On Wii U, players will get Splatoon, Yoshi’s Woolly World, and Mario Maker (to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. series).

Next: amiibo. This Fiscal Year, Nintendo will release new kinds of amiibo: the cards and the yarn-knitted figurines. To stimulate demand, the company will:

– release even more games compatibles with amiibo;
– release the NFC adapter for Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL and 2DS.1

Finally, Nintendo expects a new source of revenue from a gaming application for smart devices, which will be launched later this year.
