Monster Hunter X: official video comparing loading times between 3DS and New 3DS

Monster Hunter X comparisonEarlier today, Nintendo launched its official blog, with several posts already available. One of them is about Monster Hunter X, and features a video comparison of loading times between the original Nintendo 3DS and the New Nintendo 3DS. The video compares the following:

  • loading time from selection of the save data to the game itself
  • loading time when starting a quest
  • loading time when moving between areas during a quest
  • loading time when launching the game from the Home Menu

Here’s the comparison video:

The biggest difference is when launching the game from the Home Menu, since on regular Nintendo 3DS models, Monster Hunter X (just like Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS) “reboots” the Nintendo 3DS in a special mode where all resources are allocated to the game.

In the blog post, the Monster Hunter X development reveals they were quite surprised by those tests, as they didn’t do them in the first place. However, they were aware of the smoother framerate, made possible by the upgraded CPU of the New Nintendo 3DS. Obviously, it’s not something you can see in the video above!
