Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympics: a couple of screenshots

On May 31st, during the latest Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo announced a brand new game for the Mario & Sonic at the Olympics series. This time around, the two former rivals travel all the way to Rio for the 2016 Olympics, in Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympics on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS

Unfortunately, no proper screenshots was revealed back then, and it looks like we’re going to have to wait until E3 (which starts next week) before we get any. In the mean time, we’ll have to do with the three screenshots below, which were apparently posted by mistaked over at the official Rio 2016 Blog.

The screenshots don’t show anything special (no new character or sport), but apparently, those weren’t the only ones posted by mistake on the blog. There was several others, including one showing Sonic competing in Archery, Zazz playing table tennis against Yoshi, some Rugby sevens (with 3 Marios, 2 Sonics, Diddy Kong, Boom Booms and Egg Pawns), and some synchronised swimming (with Rosalina, Daisy, Peach and a female Mii).

Here’s the three screenshots for Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympics:

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympics (Wii U / 3DS) should come out this year, and will be publshed by Nintendo in Europe and North America.
