Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle: The Phantom of the Bwahpera Trailer, details on co-op

Yesterday, Ubisoft revealed a brand new trailer for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, which comes out in less than a month in Europe and North America (yes, so soon!). This new trailer is called The Phantom of the Bwahpera, and features a rather a Rabbid opera singer. By the way, the song in this trailer was composed by Grant Kirkhope, with lyrics by Cristina Nava from Ubisoft.

Here’s the trailer:

Ubisoft also shared some details about the special co-op challenges. As you can imagine, those have been designed to test your teamwork skills. You get to control 4 characters (2 per player), which is one more than in the Single Player campaign. Having one extra hero in your squad really changes things up a fair bit, with even more strategic possibilities for you to choose from.

What’s more, the stages have been designed specifically for those co-op challenges, the developers didn’t just re-use those from the Single Player campaign. You can play this play those challenges with either a Pro Controller, or with Joy-Cons.

Here’s a new video for the game, showcasing those very co-op challenges:

This new video also introduces the new Spooky Trails world, where Boos can be found. The good news is that they don’t really care about sides: they’re here to mess with everyone, allies AND enemies! They love nothing more than teleporting people to random places on the map, which can completely disrupt (and potentially ruin) your strategy.

But as we just said, the teleportation is random. A Boo might bring an enemy close to you, but they could also teleport your character closer to your objective. Spooky Trails is the third world you will encounter in the game, so the developers thought that by that time, players would be familiar enough with the various mechanics to start spicing things up a notch with new scenarios and tougher enemies… but also bigger rewards!

By the way, there are other ways for you to earn rewards, such as the puzzles shown in the video above. There’s also skill trees in the game!

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (Switch) comes out on August 29th in Europe and North America, and next year in Japan.
