Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 coming to the Nintendo Switch

During the latest meeting with investors, Capcom revealed that Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers on Nintendo Switch was a “smash hit” (wuth over 450 000 units shipped), and that they were now looking at releasing more games on the platforms. In fact, two games were announced yesterday: Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2!

Resident Evil Revelations was already released on Nintendo 3DS, before getting a HD port on Wii U (and other platforms) the following year. And now, it’s headed to the Nintendo Switch in late 2017. But it won’t come alone: Resident Evil Revelations 2 is also coming to the Nintendo Switch, and this one skipped both the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U.  In other words, it will be the very first time the game will be available on a Nintendo platform!

In North America, both games will be available at retail, as part of a combo pack logically dubbed Resident Evil Revelations Collection. Sold $39.99, it includes the first game on a cartridge and… a download code for the second. Unfortunately, Capcom didn’t think it would be a good idea to have both games on the same cartridge, or most likely didn’t want to go with a higher capacity (and therefore more expensive) cartridge.

Naturally, all episodes of Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be available from the get go: there will be no episodic release, like there was when the game was originally released.

If you’re only interested in one of the two games, they will also be sold separately on the Nintendo eShop for $19.99. In fact, that’s how they will be sold in Europe (and presumably Japan), since the combo pack was announced only for North America.

Some more details about Resident Evil Revelations 2. It tells the intertwined stories of…

  • Claired Redfield (now a member of TerraSave, an anti-bioweapon organisation that gets caught up in an insidious plot) and Moira Burton (Barry Burton’s very own daughter), trying to escape from a desolate prison island;
  • Barry Burton, looking for his daughter on that same island, who ends up meeting a mysterious child who claims to live on the island alone.

Naturally, both games will come with all the DLC included.

Resident Evil Revelations 1 and Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Switch – eShop) comes out in late 2017 worldwide. A combo-pack will both games will also be released in North America. The Upcoming Releases page has been updated!
