Twilight Princess manga: Vol. 1 out in June in Japan, Oracle of Ages + Seasons in May
After a several year long hiatus, Akira Himekawa finally began working on another Zelda manga back in February. This time, it’s for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, to go with the HD Remake on Wii U (which was released one month after the first chapter). Right now, the manga is available for free on the MangaONE app, with a new chapter released every two weeks. The 6th chapter will be released next week, on May 2nd.
Good news for fans who prefer a physical copy: the first volume will be released on June 24th in Japan. Unfortunately, we don’t know anything about it, except that it will cost 596 Yen, and will be published by Shogakukan. It’s not clear how many chapters will be included in this first volume, or if there will be any bonus content (extra chapter, illustrations, etc). By the time it’s out, the 9th chapter will already be available via the MangaONE app.
No doubt that we will get more details, and the cover, in the upcoming weeks. In the mean time, you can order Vol. 1 of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess manga on Amazon.co.jp. Right now, no English release seems to be in the works, but there’s no doubt there will be one down the line.
But that’s not all! To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Zelda series, Shogakukan is also re-releasing the previous Zelda manga in an omnibus format (A5 size, new cover, and some pages in colour). Just like in North America, there’s 5 volumes planned in total. The first one (for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) came out last month in Japan.
The second one is for The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages / Seasons, and will be released on May 27th (it’s available on Amazon.co.jp, for 2 000 Yen). The third volume is slated for a July 28th release, and will have both The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past manga.
