Japan: more sales data for Week 37 2019, Fiscal Year (Media Create, Dengeki)

Media Create – Day 1 Sell-through (Week 38)

Unfortunately, no Day 1 sell-through data this week!

Dengeki (Week 37)

Dengeki report that Daemon x Machina sold about 34 000 units at launch, which is a fair bit more than what Famitsu reported earlier this week. As for Amnesia for Nintendo Switch, the other entry in the Top 50, it sold only 1 838 units. As usual, late ports of Otome games really do not fare well on Nintendo Switch (brand new games not that much better).

This week, Dengeki also share some data about the current Fiscal Year, as of the end of August (so April 1st to September 1st), and things are not looking too pretty at the moment:

  • Hardware: 1.38 million units (-16.6%) / 42.6 billion Yen (-11.9%)
  • Software: 6.67 million units (-17%) / 41.3% (-18.1%)
  • Total: 83.9 billion Yen (-15.1%)

That drop is due to pretty much all consoles but the Nintendo Switch, as its sales are actually up Year on Year by 7.5% (55.1 billion Yen). The problem lies with the PlayStation 4 (-26.2%, to 25 billion Yen) and the other consoles (-72.3%, to 3.8 billion Yen). Fortunately, things should start improving from September onwards!
