Japan – Media Create sales for Week 44, 2015 (Oct. 26 – Nov. 1) [Top 50]

During Week 44, not one game came out on Nintendo platforms in Japan. This was a pretty slow week overall (with the exception of God Eater Ressurection), especially on Nintendo platforms. Sales are down for pretty much everything, even though some games are less affected than others.
During its second week, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes sold 19 499 units during the second week, which is a drop of 64% compared to the first week (and 73 893 since launch. This is slightly better than usual for a second week, but still rather poor for a Zelda game. Will the game keep on selling during the holidays? Retailers seem to think so, but we’ll have to wait a couple more weeks to be sure!
For some games, the drop week on week is rather limited: it’s the case of Yo-kai Watch Busters (-7%), Splatoon (-9%) or Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (–11%). There’s also one game which saw an increase in sales: Picross 3D 2, which sold 6 162 units this week (+4%, 64 309 in total). At this rate, it might very well reach 100 000 units sold when all things are said and done.
As for 7th Dragon III code:VFD, it should reach 100 000 units sold in the next couple of weeks: it’s currently standing at 92 000 units, with 6 224 this week (-53%).
Hardware-wise, there’s nothing really special to note this week. Sales are slightly up for the Nintendo 3DS (21 880 units sold during Week 44, vs 21 429 units for Week 43), but they’re still signficantly below their 2014 levels. As for the Wii U, sales are once again down with only 9 127 units sold. As mentioned before, sales will most likely stay below the 10 000 units/week threshold until the launch of the Splatoon bundle (on November 12th).
