Japan – Media Create sales for Week 14, 2015 (March 30 – April 5) [Top 50]

Last week, several games on Nintendo platforms came out in Japan, but only one managed to get a spot in Media Create’s Top 20 for Software: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. This New Nintendo 3DS exclusive had a good first week, with 56 932 copies sold during the first 4 days. Considering this is a 1:1 port of a game that came out in 2010 (and without any new significant content), and only on the New Nintendo 3DS, this is a good performance.

Impossible to say the same about Rodea: The Sky Soldier, which didn’t even chart in Media Create’s Top 20. Both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are no-shows, which means they sold less than 8 297 copies during their first four days on the market. No doubt Kadokawa Games is pretty unhappy about this, though at least fans got to play the game they were waiting for (unlike KAIO: The King of Pirates, which didn’t get that chance).

As for Hardware, the Nintendo 3DS is back on top with 34 574 units sold (vs 31 229 units during week 13, and 32 038 units during week 14 in 2014). It looks like Xenoblade Chronicles 3D did provide a small boost for Nintendo’s handheld, which is holding quite well year on year. Wii U sales are also up compared to last week (7 486 units vs 6 698 units), but without any real reason (no major game came out).
