Famitsu: RPG Maker coming to Nintendo 3DS

Today, Famitsu published its usual batch of previews for the latest issue of the magazine, which will be released this Thursday in Japan (Wednesday evening in the west). Last week, Puyo Puyo Chronicle was announced, and it turns out we’re getting another announcement for the Nintendo 3DS this week… RPG Maker Fes!

Famitsu reveals that RPG Maker is coming to Nintendo 3DS, with RPG Maker Fes. For those who don’t know, RPG Maker is a series of Software that can be used to create actual RPG titles. Naturally, it’s not really a professional tool: it was designed so that even people with little knowledge about game development could create their own games.

Unfortunately, the Famitsu preview doesn’t tell us much about RPG Maker Fes. It will be properly revealed in the magazine later this week, though we most likely will not have to wait until Wednesday evening for proper details (thanks to the usual leaks). At least, we do know the game will feature online connectivity, allowing users to share their creations with each other.

The preview scan below seems to indicate development is 85% complete, so a release this year seems pretty likely. It’s currently not known whether it would be a retail or digital-only title.

In the mean time, here’s the preview scan from Famitsu magazine:

Our Upcoming Releases page has been updated!

RPG Maker Fes will be released on Nintendo 3DS, but we don’t have a release date just yet. Naturally, it’s way too early to even think about a western release at this point.
