Dragon Quest XI: latest scan from Jump show two “new” female party members (from the opening movie)

On Monday, the latest issue of Jump magazine will be released in Japan, and it turns out there’s some minor Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarashi Toki o Motomete news in that one. To be more precise, the magazine introduce two “new” female characters, that could already be seen in the opening movie revealed back in December (click here to check it out, along with some gameplay footage).

The two female characters are:

  • Veronica (on the left): a fearless young girl who attacks using various spells. The quote next to her reads “Make sure not to treat me like a little girl!”;
  • Senya (on the right): she supports the other team members with various healing spells. The quote next to hear reads “I will help everyone with my healing magic”.

An additional scan from the magazine allows us to learn that the protagonist sets off on a journeyafter he learns that he is the reincarnation of the legendary hero. He decided to go see the king in Delcadar, and in order to learn more about that. Decaldar is the biggest country of the continent, and as you can imagine, the King lives in a huge castle. There’s also a plaza with a fountain.

Once in Delcadar, the hero is granted an audience with the king, who tells him that he really is the hero, before telling him more about this heroic figure. It turns out that the king also accuses you of being the son of the devil, and when he does, the castle guard surround you. Greig, a longstanding knight, even tries to dispose of you.

One of the screenshots in the scans below show the protagonist escaping on horseback with Kamyu: they’re trying to escape both soldiers and monsters.

Here’s the scan from Jump magazine:

Based on the timing of this reveal, we can expect additional details, along with direct-feed screenshots (+ some art) sometime next week. Quite interestingly, the scan doesn’t mention the Nintendo Switch, even though this version of the game has already been confirmed.

Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete (3DS, Switch) should be released later this year in Japan.
