Dragon Quest XI: latest batch of details and screens, footage

Over the past few days, Square-Enix shared some more details and screenshots for Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete. And thanks to V-Jump, we even have some gameplay videos this time around!

Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete – Horse Racing, Casino, Quests, Small medals

As mentioned in this post, the game features a Horse Racing mini-game. During races, it’s not just other racers that you have to pay attention to: there’s also some quagmires and… pumpkins to avoid!

As for the Casino, the following games are playable:

• Slots:spin the reel, and win lots of coins by lining up the patterns;
• Poker: you can double up using the coins you win;
• Roulette: if the ball ends up on the right number and/or colour, you will get lots of coins… but you could also lose big.

About Quests, they allow you to help various NPCs with their trouble, and solve their problems. In doing so, you will get some pretty juicy rewards, but you will sometime have to fight against strong enemies… just make sure you’re always prepared for the unexpected!

Finally, the Smell Medals is something you can collect during your adventure. If you go see a certain character, you will be able to trade those for some really nice rewards.

Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete – Veronica and Senya

The latest issue of Jump magazine provides us with some additional details about two party members: Veronica and Sonya.

• Veronica: she hates being treated like a child (despite being one, though also a bit of a tomboy). She may a bit on the short size, she will never flinch in a fight, no matter who or what she’s fighting against. She can use two-handed staffs and whips as weapons, and she can unleashextremely powerful attack spells, making her a valuable attack-focused character.

Here’s some of the skills/spells she can use:

1. Kafrizzle (spell): attack enemies with a pillar made of flames;
2. Gilagade (spell): use an earth-shaking flame to burn enemies away;
3. Berserk Magic Circle (weapon skill, two-handed staff): strengthen spells;
4. Extreme Dragon Strike (weapon skill, whip): strikes enemies several times in a row.

• Senya: the party’s healer, who heal and cure allies. She is said to have a kind heart and a gentle personality, and she remains extremely polite at all time… quite the opposite of Veronica, which often has trouble dealing with her easygoing and gentle personality. She can use spears and sticks in battle.

She can use the following skills/spells:

1. Kerplunk (spell): heal all party members at once, but at her own expense;
2. Kaswooshle (spell): a spell used to attack;
3. Holy Light (spell)
4. Flash Strike (weapon skill, stick and spear)

Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete (3DS) comes out on July 29th in Japan. The Nintendo Switch version will follow at a later date.
